Domaine Henri & Gilles Buisson

Saint-Romain

Meet the producer

At the heart of this story lies a family tradition. The Buisson name is deeply rooted in the history of Saint-Romain for 8 generations. Since 1758, the family has always cultivated vineyards.

Henri Buisson, a true pioneer, planted 5 hectares of vines, marking the beginning of the family’s history by becoming an independent winemaker in 1947, the year Saint-Romain received its AOC. The estate now spans 19 hectares, including 2 Premier Cru and 3 Grand Cru.

Henri's son, Gilles, learned the principles of organic farming alongside him in the 1970s. This quest for independence and freedom is at the heart of the identity of the "Henri et Gilles Buisson" estate, which is committed to producing wines that align with its core values.

Gilles and his wife Monica, will continue to evolve the estate in their own way. They expanded the vineyard to 14 hectares in 2000, built a new winery, and invested in winemaking equipment.

The Estate’s philosophy

Franck and Frédérick Buisson, sons of Gilles and grandsons of Henri, took up the torch in 2008, inheriting a passion for wines and their terroir.

They cherish this land and wish to tell its story through their cuvées.

Today, the two brothers manage a vineyard of nearly 20 hectares, certified "ORGANIC" since 2009, and have been fully practicing biodynamics since 2018.

Franck and Frédérick are committed to protecting the ecosystem, monitoring their carbon footprint, and adopting a global, innovative, and environmentally friendly approach. Their commitment is also reflected in the careful selection of corks, bottles, and equipment in the vineyards and cellar.

The two brothers have decided to preserve the authenticity and unique character of each terroir. This approach requires attentive support for each appellation to produce wines that are true to them, while minimizing interventions. During the winemaking process, each wine is tasted daily for personalised monitoring.

Through their various appellations, Franck and Frédérick create a palette of distinct flavours, with each wine being a faithful reflection of its original plot.
